It is managed by Eastways Management Ltd on behalf of its shareholders who own the properties. The directors are also owner and residents, elected at an annual general meeting. The properties in Regent Square are all leasehold and residents are expected to observe the rules contained in the leases. See our <a href=\"https:\/\/maastrixdemo.com\/design\/html\/eastway\/guidelines-east-london.html\" data-track-event=\"click\" data-track-action=\"internal_link_clicked\">guidelines<\/a>\u00a0for\u00a0more information.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-12d9149 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"12d9149\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a573f3d elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"a573f3d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The History of Regent Square<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-251bb99 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"251bb99\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The square was established in\u00a0the late 1960s when the Greater London Council (GLC) agreed to the development\u00a0of residential dwellings on the site of two small derelict roads in the East\u00a0End. Unlike any other development in the area, the flats were to be privately\u00a0built and privately owned, with the GLC retaining the freehold.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b369138 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b369138\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The final plans consisted of 4\u00a0blocks of 1- and 2-bedroom flats, all with their own garage or parking bay. The\u00a0grounds were to be communal, with a non-parking area in the centre of the\u00a0square. From early on in the 1970s, owners were able to move in and a community\u00a0rapidly developed. Management, maintenance, and gardening were undertaken by\u00a0the resident-owners under the umbrella of a formally constituted company \u2013\u00a0Eastways Management Ltd.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f164e60 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f164e60\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>There was open access through\u00a0the square until the 1970s, when security became an issue. Improved lighting\u00a0and locked pedestrian gates were installed at that time, and after a dramatic\u00a0increase in burglaries and other anti-social activities in 2004, vehicle security\u00a0gates were also installed<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ad6e23b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ad6e23b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In 1997, after several years\u00a0of negotiating with the GLC, the London Residuary Body, and the London Borough\u00a0of Tower Hamlets, we were able to acquire the freehold for Regent Square. As\u00a0part of our general maintenance programme, we have scheduled regular surveys, (which\u00a0are currently undertaken by the property and consultation consultants at Cubit\u00a0Consulting) and have also engaged a contract gardener to support the care of\u00a0the square.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a54a25d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a54a25d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>After so many years, with owners coming and going or\u00a0renting their properties out to other tenants, Regent Square\u2019s character has\u00a0evolved naturally and will continue to do so. As a constant, our regular\u00a0programme of maintenance and gardening mean it is still a very pleasant place\u00a0to live<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Regent Square is a private residential square in London.
